We’re proud to introduce the IIDA Oregon Board of Directors for the 2026–2027 board year. This dedicated, volunteer-led group is excited to serve our members and build on the chapter’s continued work through engaging events, continuing education, and advocacy for interior design professionals, students, and the broader community.
For me, IDA became a space for community, not competition. A place to connect, to belong, and to lift each other up. It offers the team, support, and leadership development we don’t always get when we need it most in our careers — and in life. That’s the path of belonging and connection we’re committed to continuing for all of you.

Today, IIDA Oregon’s Executive Leadership and some of the Advocacy Committee were at the Oregon State Capitol in Salem, meeting with legislators and advocating for the power, expertise, and importance of Commercial Interior Designers. 🏛️
Commercial Interior Designers are highly trained professionals whose work directly impacts the health, safety, accessibility, and experience of the spaces Oregonians use every day. Yet our profession still lacks legal recognition in Oregon.
We’re working hard to change that!
IIDA Oregon is fiercely committed to representing Commercial Interior Designers across our entire state. In 2027, we will introduce legislation establishing legal recognition for the profession and creating a pathway for qualified Commercial Interior Designers to practice independently within their defined scope.
31 states have already enacted legislation recognizing interior designers—and Oregon should be next.
Today’s conversations were another important step toward ensuring our profession is recognized for the expertise, accountability, and value we bring to Oregon’s built environment.
